At the woodlands, we’re on board with the latest thing. Micro greens grown in the laundry room next to the printer! Soon we’ll be eating radishes…well, the tops anyway. The woodlands serpent stuck his tongue in the pond this morning and it froze there. What a dope! We had to fabricate a mast and halyard to raise the bird feeder tube to a new height. The woodlands deer have taken to standing on their hind feet to reach the ‘cardinal mix.’ It is surprising to see how tall the deer are as bipeds… First snow. First fire. It’s cold. We’re warm. It’s all good. We’ve been cleaning up the debris from the dead elm tree that blew down and shattered in the latest windstorm. We got to the last piece of trunk and the guys decided to saddle up that bad boy and ride it into the mill. Because ya know, it’s fun. Work is play. […] Well here’s a new activity. We made a plastic rope from grocery bags and plan to lay it across the pond. Don’t ask. First, we must get the rope from one side to the other. For that we need a boy scout to shoot an arrow over the pond with the rope attached. […] Slowly but surely, we’re going electric in the woodlands. The sawmill is electric, the kiln is electric (solar), our two chainsaws are electric, our mower is electric, trimmer too, and the snow blower. Bicycles? Nah. We still pedal those…
Oh, and we now have a beautiful, raised walkway for getting off the barge bridge […] We are looking at the afternoon reflection in the woodlands pond. It’s an interesting perspective. Sometimes we see an airplane flying six miles below the surface… Happy Halloween from us and a couple of Golden Monkeys in the log cabin at Happy Hour. Hey, the cabin is heated now. Whoa! |
