The mother of all ash logs…

We loaded a 24″ dia 16′ long Ash tree trunk into the sawmill today and It pretty much maxed out our log handling capability. Of course the hieroglyphics from the menacing ash borer are all over the surface as usual…

The boys worked hard in the sawmill making reindeer for their yard. And they’re very proud.

Chestnuts!

Today we’re starting to ‘over-winter’ chestnuts! They’re already sending tap roots so we’re putting them into soil until spring planting day in the woodlands. It’s quite a project so we’ve teamed up.

Steak?

A plane fly low over the sawmill this afternoon pulling a banner ‘Ruth’s Chris Steak House Now Open in Ann Arbor.’ Not sure why I’ve been singled out for this.

Trail Ride!

A perfect afternoon for a rough trail ride on the woodlands trail! Thanks for drivin’ the beast Grammie.

We have morels…

It’s a boon year for morel mushrooms along the woodlands trail. Could be our ticket outta here. Oh wait; we’re never leaving.

It was a chilly morning at the woodlands for our annual tree planting but we had an enthusiastic hard working crew helping. They earned their hot chocolate today!
