Rainbow trout has become the default after-school snack in the woodlands. I think this will catch on. I built a wall of woodlands debris along a 400 ft section of our road front property line. It was a very Zen experience – except for a run-in with a yellow jacket nest… Photo credit LHB. Les raisins sont arrivés! Time for the annual crush-n-press at the Pearl Winery in the woodlands – a tradition of four decades and counting. The bridge had to go. It was sinking on its own. Turns out it wasn’t such a great design. The squirrels will just have to go back to looking both ways before they cross the trail. The gustnado that deforested most of the county, and spurred a test of our new gen set, created Squirrel Bridge over one of the woodland trails. Quite a nice design, I have to say. And the sculpture left behind at the bridge base is not too shabby either. […] Not a bad day for kayak fishing in the ponds of Four Mile Lake. Very good, in fact. We caught Fish. That’s what we named him before we set him free… Nice hike on the Potawatomi Trail today. Still smiling at the 31-Mile mark… We have now six size XL snappers thriving in our pond, including the matriarch, Bertha, and this shaggy tailed male we call, Trouble. We added a sign today… We planted three acorn squash seeds by the corner of our log cabin. Now, we can’t get to the door! Not a bad day for s’mores in the woodlands. |
