It’s that time of the season when the trumpet vines bloom and takeover the sawmill and consume the whirligig… The bottling team is continuing to toil in the winery today. They’re wrapping up the 2021 vintage. There’s not much left to teach these guys… Because the woodlands critters have taken a shine to the soft pine brick moulding used all over our place, today I’m sawing rock-hard black locust and milling it into new brick moulding. Jeesh. The original sawmill barn quilt curled up and died in the sun. Fortunately, the resident quilt artist/mathematician stepped up to make new one. Love it! I realize I’ve changed a bit in the past dozen years or so, but C’Mon! What about this guy? He’s become a dear friend, one that I look up to. As we get closer to spring, these things have started cropping up all over the woodlands. We don’t know what they are or even what to call them, but we kinda like ‘em… I got bored and made a game table out of black cherry scraps. I like it. Game time! I made a couple of tambourines out of black walnut and beer bottle caps. May give busking a try. I admit concentrating was difficult during this project. There’s a lot of beer involved… First time on cross country skies for this dude. What a quick learner! He’s a natural. Quite a backlog in front of the sawmill from the winter harvest. Time to get to work… |
