We were thinking about making a custom flag for the cabin but we kinda like this one… For the moment the boys have moved on from tools and construction to learning other life skills… like pub darts! And this news: the cabin of course is off-the-grid but still well lit (rechargeably). We finished assembling some benches today. The boys brought a friend and she immediately went to work and helped a lot and played a lot too. Lloyd and Henry have worked hard and long on the project all summer. It’s only right that they sign the cabin. And then this – Lloyd created original art […] The roof is done and the boys worked on some inside stuff today. They installed the rug and hung the first trophy. And they’re starting to use the place for its intended purpose – play! […] We figured a reclaimed antique parlor door was the perfect choice for the cabin. The boys finished up the installation today with jamb stops and weather stripping. And by the way, the big guy can run up a rope ladder like a monkey! […] We found an ‘ear’ on a downed ash tree and decided to put it on the cabin. Ya know because you have to say the password into the ear in order to get in…
We still have a way to go but with kindergarten and preschool starting soon it’s time to mention something. This […] The crew installed a lot of hardware today. With the swing open windows and the rope and pulley operated upper window and the rope ladder to the loft, the place is looking a little Swiss Family Robinson-esque. […] No progress today! The crew took another day off. For a summer gig, they sure get a lot of vacation days and job perks… The roof beams are raised high, a few roof boards are up, and the boys installed windows today. We’ve entered the home stretch. Thank you Tim for the reclaimed windows!
[…] Lag screwing the roof beam supports. They worked in the rain and celebrated in the sun…as it should be. […] |
