We just completed a loop of Lake Michigan. First stop, an important birthday celebration in Kenosha with homemade cupcakes and lots of gifts. Then a nod to the iconic city velodrome on the way north out of town. Passed through the meat packing region O’ Wisconsin and on to the UP. Spent the night in Escanaba – tipped a couple of scotch ales at the Hereford and Hops brewery. So good. Viewed a speckled trout 30 feet down from the Kitch Iti Kipi barge west of Manistique. On to the bridge and down to the Gaylord area exploring the Pigeon River County State Forest trying to spot the elk herds. 30+ miles of dirt trails barely passable in the Wrangler. Nada. After breakfast, we spotted one elk just outside the city limits of Gaylord. Then home to the woodlands and the sawmill. Work is play.
