Black Cherry trees occasionally give up a branch. Last year one fell on the trail, and while I was cutting the branch, I saw a bench.

Now it’s added to the Woodlands Sawmill growing list of projects. I call it The Occasional Bench. The prototype is installed at the headquarters.

The bench is well suited to the ‘butt-sliding’ side-to-side method of tapestry weaving. Or, for putting on boots or for other activities done in hallways, entrances, lofts, and backrooms. It opens for storage and hiding stuff.

You could put it anywhere, if you’re strong enough. It’s heavy. Solid cherry.
