New Wood Shed

Using a little of most every species in the woodlands, we now have a new wood shed! Tarp curtains in the fall…

Wine Table

The solid black walnut coffee…er wine table is a ‘one-off’ at the Woodlands Sawmill. It’s from a wind blown tree that fell over the trail. The wood is beautiful and is left natural in the table with only a tung oil finish.

Occasional Bench

Black Cherry trees occasionally give up a branch. Last year one fell on the trail, and while I was cutting the branch, I saw a bench.

Now it’s added to the Woodlands Sawmill growing list of projects. I call it The Occasional Bench. The prototype is installed at the headquarters.

The White Ash trees are dying left and right in Michigan. It’s a sad situation but the wood is beautiful and I really enjoy working with it. My favorite use is The Woodlands Rocker. It’s a strip-laminated design and features nylon snowshoe weaving.

The high winds blow down another dead ash tree in the woodlands. Voilà!! New closet door and workshop entry doors in the basement.How about a whole wall of doors? At the rate the ash trees are dropping, we’ll soon have more doors than closets.

Wedding Cookies for Corrina

Fortunately the wind blew down a big black willow tree in the woodlands in time to make cookies for Corrina Strecker’s wedding. It was a baker’s dozen and then some. Looked great at the reception!
