She’s lookin’ good, and I made her a sawmill-esque mirror from a black cherry log for Mother’s Day. Happy day, Sher! Who has a wife like this? She crawls out of a cupula window, scoots along the sawmill roof ridge like a mink to reinstall a repaired whirligig and has fun doing it. We had fun again teaming up for a new project – cold frames. An old recipe worked great. One black locust log, two recycled windows, and miscellaneous hardware from the junk drawer. Done just in time for acclimating plants to the spring weather. […] I asked her, “What should we do with this Virginia Creeper vine hanging in front of the sawmill?” Here’s her answer… suspend a poison blue dart frog from it. The woodlands sawmill went off the grid! It wasn’t a planned thing or given any forethought. The top of a cherry tree snapped off and caught a gust from on high and took out every electrical connection. The pole at the sawmill was truncated just above its transformer. The worst of it was DTE barricading […] I had a 40 year old NordicTrack that I didn’t use anymore and a stationary bike adaptor that I didn’t need. So, I repurposed and combined the two to make a rowing machine that I like a lot. And so does this guy. […] The woodlands Fire Devil is now the Ice Devil! The last of the acorn squash started to rot before ripening. So, we’ve decided to launch them into the other world — the one in the pond. This year, we whacked another Charlie Brown tree from our crowded woodlands plantings. But next year we plan to make a sawmill version of a wood helix tree from this old willow log. I’ve been making small scale prototypes lately… […] Yeah, we now have theater seating. We rebuilt, restored, recovered, and refinished the dining room chairs. It’s showtime! |
